John Eichelsheim

Writer, author, editor and broadcaster.

Born in Lower Hutt, he chased trout in the Hutt River as a boy and later haunted Wellington’s wharves and foreshore.

An itinerant teaching career broadened his fishing horizons to include fabulous fishing around New Zealand and overseas, sparking an interest in writing fishing stories.

John left teaching in 1990 for full time writing, becoming first staff writer, then editor and eventually managing editor of New Zealand Fisherman, NZ Game Fisher magazines and later Sea Spray magazine, then associate editor of New Zealand Fishing News and Boating New Zealand magazines.
